We've officially reached the midpoint of the HSEL Winter Season, and both our CS:GO and Varsity Overwatch teams earned their first major victory during Week 4 and 5 of the competitive season Starting with Overwatch, our Varsity Team extended their overall record to 3-2 with a forfeit victory on Saturday, February 17th. After some added team practice, they then earned their first legit victory of the season on Monday, February 19th against the Barnum Grenadiers. The Varsity players dominated the game with a near shut-out victory in both matches. The JV team was not as successful in their 4th match, which was also against the Barnum Grenadiers. Even though they came up short, they managed to continue to solidify their strategy as a team. They then received a win via receiving a bye during Match 5.
Overwatch will go on to start the second half of this season this Saturday, February 24th. The Varsity AND JV teams will take on the Munster High School Mustangs, who also have two separate teams. A Varsity win would for sure place the team in 7th overall and even potentially higher depending on how other teams compete. Overwatch wasn't the only team moving up the rankings this last week. Our CS:GO team picked up two wins to start building momentum into the second half of the season. They picked up a dominating victory over the Kaufman Lions on Saturday, February 17th, and they followed that up with a forfeit victory over the Lansing Association of Gamers on Wednesday, February 21st. The CS:GO team has managed to slowly climb the leaderboards to currently sit at 19th place. They may not be in the Top 10 yet, but they hope to continue building toward their next victory this Saturday against the Neosho High School Wildcats. CS:GO TEAM
